My story

I realised my body was starting to reflect the life I was building.

This is the story behind EnduroLiving — how I began rebuilding my health, energy and resilience while balancing business, family and real life.

“I never planned to build something like this.”

A few years ago, if you’d asked me whether I’d be interested in things like longevity, recovery, nervous system regulation or HRV, I honestly don’t think I would have paid much attention.

Business was growing fast. We had young children. Work regularly stretched into evenings and weekends. Most of my energy went into keeping everything moving forward and, without really noticing it happening, my own health gradually slipped further down the priority list.

Movement became less consistent. Sleep became shorter. Stress became normal. Recovery became something I’d think about later. From the outside, life probably looked productive. But internally, I didn’t feel the way I wanted to feel.

“Then I started wearing WHOOP consistently.”

That was probably the first time I had something objective reflecting back the reality of how I was living. My HRV averaged around 32ms in the beginning. Over time, I realised the number itself wasn’t the important part. What mattered was what it reflected: high stress, poor recovery, inconsistent sleep, far less movement than in earlier years.

“That became a turning point for me.”

Not because I transformed everything overnight. It was much slower than that. I began walking more. Training again. Spending more time outdoors. Building endurance gradually. Recovering more intentionally. Learning when to push and when to back off.

The numbers improved — HRV climbed into the 40s, then the 50s and eventually the 60s. But the bigger change was that life itself started feeling more sustainable again. I felt calmer. More capable. More resilient.

“That word, capable, has probably become the centre of all of this.”

Capable of performing in business without sacrificing my health in the process. Capable of being present at home. Capable of running in the mountains. Capable of staying strong and useful as I get older. I’ve got three young children now, and a huge part of this journey is tied to them.

EnduroLiving came from that. Not from perfection, not from having all the answers, and not from an extreme biohacking mindset — it came from trying to build a healthier, stronger, more resilient life in a way that still fits around real-world responsibilities.

“And if any part of this story feels familiar, you’re probably exactly who I built this for.”

Real life

From the trail, the road, the boardroom, the recovery room

The project isn’t theory — it’s woven through every week, alongside building a business and raising a family.

Endurance

Trail miles, Zone 2, the long aerobic base.

Capacity

Cycling in the highlands — building VO₂ Max.

Work

Running a business — the stress test the framework has to survive.

Recovery

Contrast therapy, sauna, regulating the nervous system.

Direction

How the direction started to change.

2023

I started tracking properly. My HRV averaged around 32ms and the data made it harder to ignore the cost of stress, poor sleep and low movement.

2024

I rebuilt consistency through walking, endurance training, better recovery and more time outdoors. The numbers started moving, but more importantly, I started feeling more capable.

2025

Training became more structured. Recovery became more intentional. Strength, sauna, cold exposure, massage and supplementation became part of a wider system.

2026

The focus is now healthspan: staying strong, resilient and capable for my family, my work and the decades ahead.

Where we are

Saltburn-by-the-Sea, North Yorkshire.

The Outpost is our home on the coast — infrared sauna, ice, oxygen, altitude and VO₂ testing, with the moors and the sea a few minutes away. It’s where the data turns into something you can feel.

If this feels familiar, this is where I'd start.

Not about perfection. About direction.
